Help your children hide God’s Word in their young hearts and learn Scripture alongside them with God’s Word in My Heart: A Scripture Learning Guide with Memory Verses!

God's Word in My Heart: A Scripture Learning Guide with Memory Verses - Learn the Bible along with your children! Available in four versions, this ebook includes printable Scripture memory verses from A to Z plus ideas for go-alongs and activities to help you teach Bible to your kids!

One of the things I remember most from my childhood are the Bible verses and songs I learned in Sunday School, VBS and at home. In Bible college, I committed many Scripture verses to memory and they still come back to me, especially in the difficult times, when the Spirit brings them to my mind.

At the same time, I wish I’d had the opportunity for more intensive Scripture study as a child, not only memorizing verses but understanding them in context and learning how they apply to my life. There are plenty of Scripture songs I missed out on too, as many of the music available now wasn’t made yet when I was a little one.

Now that my husband and I are raising our own kids, we have a deep desire to instill these Words of Life in our children’s heads and hearts. And this begins at home!

No Sunday School curriculum can replace what a parent can teach their children about the Lord and His Word! So I spent some time looking at some Scripture memory verse programs or systems but couldn’t find exactly what I wanted.

I was hoping for a way to:

  • Teach the same verses to both my older and younger children at a level where they could learn alongside each other
  • Use verses that could be memorized in the shorter and longer version. There were specific truths we wanted to impart to our children, most importantly God’s plan of salvation.

Also important to me was finding some very simple and straightforward ideas for learning and memorizing the verses. I’m not super crafty, and it seemed like many of the activities I saw online required craft supplies I didn’t have or activities I didn’t have time for or didn’t mix with a 7 year old, 4 year old and busy 1 year old.

I also knew from experience that Scripture is easily learned when paired with songs! So I decided to combine all these elements and create my own system, which is working very well for our children.

Thanks to some encouragement from a blogging friend, I decided to turn these ideas into an eBook, which is now available for you as God’s Word in My Heart: A Scripture Learning Guide with Memory Verses!

  1. Hi Jenn,

Thank you so much for putting in the leg work on this so the rest of us don’t have to! I’m having a hard time choosing between the versions. How do I know which version will work best for myself and my soon to be 5 year old daughter?

    • Hi Kayte! The only difference between the versions is that each one uses a different translation of the Bible for the printable verses (ESV, NASB, KJV or Variety, which is a mix of NASB, NIV and ESV). Otherwise, they have all the same material and instructions. It would be perfect for your 5 year old and you can choose whichever translation of the Bible suits your family. A lot of my readers choose ESV, but you can pick whatever works! :) But, I think it would be smart of me to note that on the purchase page here, so thanks for asking the question! Hope that helps!

  2. Hey Jen! Super excited to have bumped into your ebook! before I download i wanted to be clear…does the “variety” option include all the scriptures in each of the 4 translations, or are there just a few in each translation? thanks :)

    • Great question! It has a few in each translation. The reason I did this is because each memory verse matches up to a suggested song. These songs are those that I found on a variety of Scripture CDs, which used a variety of versions as well! Hope that helps!

      • Thanks! That makes more sense :) Does the ebook include links to the songs, or do I have to purchase the CD’s separately? Normally I’d pick all in one version, but we love songs around here ;) if I’m to purchase the CD’s, how many different ones will I need to locate/buy?

        • Due to copyright, I can’t link to the actual songs except two, I do have links in the ebook to where you can buy them though. You could buy the songs individually or you could grab the three separate CDs or MP3 albums that I have listed as resources, which match with some of the Scripture memory verses. Obviously, you don’t HAVE to have the songs, it just really helps my kids with memory work, plus the other songs on the CDs are great–you may even have them already :)
