I'm so tired!

Sometimes, when I get to the end of the day, I finally notice just how tired I am. My brain power grinds to a halt as I try to process the craziness of the day and grudgingly prepare for the next.

It isn’t that I don’t enjoy what I’m doing. I desire to have lots of energy in my calling as a mom, wife, homemaker and entrepreneur, but it’s just that I get distracted by all the little things that tend to pop up throughout the day.

I know I’m not in control of everything, but I just know there’s something I can do to make our home a more peaceful, joyful place. But I feel the pressure to get everything figured out all at once so I don’t even know where to start.

Maybe you as a mom have felt that same discouragement by how you’re doing in at least one (if not more) of these areas:

1. We don’t feel like we have enough time to do what matters.
2. We want to build a solid Christian foundation in our home but struggle with where to begin or how to tackle challenges of parenting.
3. We lack of peace and organization in our home.
4. Amidst all that, we find it hard to carve out intentional time to take good care of ourselves!

What to Do When You Don’t Know Where to Start

Three of the key truths that have helped me in times when I feel tired and overwhelmed and don’t know where to start “fixing things” are:

  1. Go to God in prayer–commit your day to Him! Just praying something simple like “Lord please help me to get through the day and follow your leading” gives me the reassurance that He is with me.
  2. Do the next right thing. Taking one step and following the advice of Elisabeth Elliott who said, “when you don’t know what to do, do the thing in front of you” helps to clear my mind and give me a feeling of success.
  3. Laser focus on one area of my home or family at a time. Rather than trying to immediately improve 1256 things, I narrow in on the biggest area that needs change and seek solutions.

Life is a marathon, not a sprint. And I have found so much peace in taking one thing at a time! I hope these short tips have refreshed you today!
