Today my baby had a rough time sleeping. He’s going through this thing called a “wonder week”; a developmental period of learning new skills during which time infants communicate telepathically with each other, their sole purpose being to drive their mothers crazy. Or something like that.

Look at that cheery little grin :)

Just like little Jude struggled to settle down and nap today, there are times when I also have trouble sleeping. Many times I lie awake with thoughts and worries playing soccer in my brain, robbing me of a restful night’s sleep.
With that on my mind this morning, I looked up a few Bible verses that speak to this very thing and wrote them on a notecard to keep by my bed.
“I will lie down and sleep in peace, for You alone O Lord make me dwell in safety.” Psalm 4:8

“Be at rest once more, O my soul, for the Lord has been good to you.” Psalm 116:7
“When you lie down, you will not be afraid; yes you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet.” Proverbs 3:24

“Come to me, all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28

I’m thankful that God’s Word can break through these disquieting times and bring me reassurance and peace! Jude is now sleeping peacefully too and I pray for an even better day of sweet rest for him tomorrow!

  1. These verses on sleep are great to hear, as I’m up a lot during the night these days! :-) Thankful for a wonderful husband who helps out when he can.
