William and I were talking the other night before he went to bed. He told me he was afraid of the shadows in the corner of his room, so we went in search of a Bible verse to comfort him. We found this, the New Living Translation of Psalm 23:4b, “I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me.”
Isn’t this so true? God is truly present with us. He is not a far-off, uninvolved being that gazes at us from afar but instead is a living, loving Father who desires a close relationship with us. Whether we have something difficult ahead of us in life or just need to comfort a scared child, this verse spoken in this way is a simple reminder of God’s care.
William did go off to bed after we talked about this verse and asked me to print it on the computer and put it on his wall so he could read it whenever he wanted :)
