This is an easy, one dish meal to make with only 5 ingredients! Texas Skillet is the perfect dinner for a busy night!

I’m a big fan of one dish meals! Less dirty dishes, a small amount of prep and easy clean-up are what we need at our house these days! One of my favorites is Texas Skillet, a meal my mom made many times when I was growing up.

There are just five ingredients (and a couple of spices) and most likely you have them in your pantry or fridge right now!

Texas Skillet

1 lb ground beef

1/4 cup chopped onion

1 15 oz can tomato sauce or diced tomatoes

1 1/2 cans water

1 tsp. chili powder

1 tsp. oregano

1 1/4 cups uncooked brown minute rice

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Brown ground beef and onion in a deep 12 inch skillet. Drain or rinse your ground beef. Return to pan. Add tomatoes, water, spices and rice. Stir and simmer for 20 minutes or until rice is cooked through. Sprinkle cheese on top and serve alone or with tortilla chips for dipping!

Super easy and tasty, enjoy!
