Last night I was thinking about a difficult situation that I want to have changed. I was very frustrated, feeling as though it could never turn out the way I’d hoped. Suddenly a Bible verse dropped into my mind: “Nothing is impossible with God” (Luke 1:37).
This verse is referring to Elizabeth bearing a child at an older age and also to Jesus’ mother Mary finding herself pregnant with the Son of God. What seemed improbable and miraculous in the mind of people was easy for God to accomplish through His wisdom and power.
I’m thankful that we can have confidence in God’s perfect will and way, even if it is beyond our comprehension. It helps me in times of doubt to look back on God’s faithfulness in the past and see how He has provided for my needs and blessed me greatly. “For you have been my hope, O Sovereign LORD, my confidence since my youth. From birth I have relied on you; you brought me forth from my mother’s womb. I will ever praise you.” Psalm 71:5-6
When He puts something on my heart it is always accomplished even when I have to wait for it. “For the vision is yet for the appointed time; It hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries, wait for it. For it will certainly come, it will not delay.” Habakkuk 2:3
Needless to say, that was only last night and God has not yet visibly acted to change the situation. But He is working beyond my limited human view to bring things together in a perfect way so that His will can be accomplished. And I have confidence that when it works out, it will be more wonderful than I could have imagined.
