What does “independence” mean to you? The freedom to live where you want, work where you want and worship where you want? Some of the very normal things we do each day of our own free will are taken for granted. Many Americans are not educated about the history of our country and I feel it’s important to go back to our roots to learn more about the first settlers, founding fathers and their ideals. They are partly to thank for the freedoms we enjoy! Those who have fought for our freedom should also be thanked, especially around July 4th, America’s Independence Day.
If you’re from a different country, exploring your history and your day of independence brings great understanding as to why things are the way they are, whether good or bad. Some of you may enjoy the same freedoms as Americans but others may not. No matter what our situation, God takes care of and watches over His people wherever they are–America, South Africa, Canada, Australia or any other place!
“For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.” 2 Chronicles 16:9
