If you’re a blogger, you know that well-crafted graphics and images make for pinnable posts, a professional design and photos that are pleasing to the eye.

If you’re not a blogger but simply want to do some neat things with your photos–perhaps touch them up, add some nice text or make a photo collage for Grandma–there’s a way you can learn how for very little cost!

Richele McFarlin of Under the Golden Apple Tree has written a guide to creating and editing with PicMonkey called Monkey See, Monkey Do: A Tutorial for Using Picmonkey with Professional Results. She is a professional blog designer at Crisp Apple Designs and has written several books.

Never heard of PicMonkey? It is what I like to call Photoshop for Newbies {or Dummies, Like Me}. It is a free photo editing website {with the potential for an affordable upgrade to Royale, see more about how you can try Royale for free at the end of this post!} which can be used to create photo collages, blog buttons, printables, high quality photos, pinnable images and more!

{Bloggers, if you’re interested, I have a step-by-step post on how to create a free printable and offer it to your readers!}

There are a lot of options in PicMonkey and to be honest, even though I’ve been using it for over a year, I really didn’t know how to use it to my advantage.

Richele’s book covers a lot of areas, including the basics of choosing color schemes, images and fonts, using layering and how to create certain size graphic items {blog buttons, cover pages, printables, etc}. She also shares how to use the tools in PicMonkey to make your photos look their best. There are a lot of images in the eBook to explain what she is doing, which is fantastic for a visual learner like myself!

Here are some images I have created recently using some of these tips {just click on the images if you’d like to visit those particular posts while you’re at it! ;) }:

I’m not a top-notch designer by any means, but I’m thankful to have learned a lot as I go! Richele’s book is so helpful to me in continuing that learning!

Richele is so kind to offer a 50% discount on Monkey See, Monkey Do to my readers! Grab her book for only $4! It is absolutely worth it! Use code PURPOSE50 when you click here to buy!

I will also be giving away a copy of Monkey See, Monkey Do! Just enter in the Rafflecopter below, only one easy entry is required and the rest are optional!

About PicMonkey Royale:

There is a free version of PicMonkey that is very adequate for general needs, but they also have a paid version called PicMonkey Royale for $33 a year. I am currently paying for a year of Royale, because there are a lot more options with a paid subscription. For me, this is an alternative to purchasing Photoshop because I don’t have the skills or time to learn how to use it at this point :)

If you’d like to try PicMonkey Royale for a day, just click this link. If you decide not to buy Royale, you will still likely enjoy the complimentary version of PicMonkey! {This is not an affiliate link, but I do receive a free week of Royale when three people check out PicMonkey–no purchase required.}
