I was drooling over the Schwan’s catalog one afternoon when I came across a recipe for ham and cheese calzones. It called for the Schwan frozen calzone dough but I figured I could just make my own in the bread machine. Here’s my version of this delicious dish.
Hot Ham and Cheese Calzone
You’ll Need:
13 inch calzone crust (recipe here)
1/4-1/2 cup cream cheese
1/2 cup ranch dressing
8 oz thin-sliced ham
1 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (or your favorite combination of white cheeses)
1 large Roma tomato, thinly sliced
1/2 cup chopped green onion
2 Tbsp milk
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 F
Stir together cream cheese and ranch dressing and spread onto one half side of crust.
Top with ham, shredded cheese, tomatoes and green onions.
Brush outside edges of crust with milk to help seal dough.
Fold untopped side of crust over filling and crimp edges using two hands to pinch, twist and seal dough.
Cut five slits on top of calzone to vent.
Brush crust with remaining milk and bake for 20-22 minutes or until golden brown.
