Advent isn’t just a countdown to Christmas!
Let’s talk briefly about how to celebrate Advent.
It’s a way to think about and celebrate how Jesus was prophesied throughout history and how His first coming fulfilled the law so we could be made right with the Lord through His death and resurrection!
It’s also a season to ponder Jesus’ second coming, to repent, and to prepare our hearts for that day where every knee will bow and every tongue confess that He is Lord.
We love to incorporate Advent traditions to make these Scriptural truths more personal for our kids (and for us!).
So I created a printable Advent calendar in the form of a banner, with Scripture verses for each day of this season.

I hope you’ll enjoy using this Advent Calendar Banner with your kids!
Scripture Advent Calendar to Prepare for Christmas

All you do is print the banner out (preferably on cardstock) and then cut out the pieces, and paste the coordinating Scripture verse for the day on the back of each bunting piece! Your kids can do this with you if you’d like ;)
Then punch holes and attach pieces with twine or ribbon and hang up in your home, reading a Bible verse (or verses sometimes) for each day until Christmas!
Each “section” of verses follows the traditional Advent candle themes – Prophecy, Bethlehem, Shepherds, and Angels – which all reflect the Scriptural truths of who Jesus is and how He is spoken of in the Word throughout time.
These verses lead us to Christmas Day when we celebrate Christ’s birth!
Something about Advent you may not know:
Sometimes the general understanding about Advent is that it takes place from Dec 1-25. But throughout the history of this church holiday, Advent has been celebrated starting four Sundays before Christmas. It always ends on Christmas Eve.
That is why, then, Advent can be anywhere between 23 and 28 days long!
To keep it simple, our Advent calendar banner is created with Day 1-Day 25.
