When your child has a scrape or cut, what’s the first thing you reach for?
If it’s not an essential oil, let me share with you a super easy blend that you can use on any “ouchie” that your kids might have. Or that you might have….because even grown-ups get “owies” now and then–ha!
These essential oils pack an antibacterial punch and don’t sting when applied. My 2 year old asks for her owie spray even when she isn’t hurt! :)
Essential Oils Owie Spray for Kids
For ages 2 and up.
2 oz glass amber spray bottle (you can use a small glass jar with a cover if you don’t have any bottles, just store it out of direct light)
10-12 drops lavender
10-12 drops tea tree
10-12 drops frankincense
Fill the rest with a carrier oil such as fractionated coconut oil. FCO soaks into the skin very nicely.
If you don’t have a carrier oil, you can use olive oil or coconut oil but it likely won’t spray very well, so in that case, you may just need to keep it in a glass jar.
Alternate Owie Spray Recipe
2 oz spray bottle
5 drops Myrrh
5 drops Frankincense
5 drops Lavender
5 drops Helichrysum
Fill remainder with carrier oil
If you don’t have Frankincense (it’s a bit more of an expensive oil), you can still combine the other oils in either recipe and they will be effective!
To do this, just increase the amount of drops (for instance, 15 Lavender and 15 Tea Tree in the first recipe) to make up for the “missing” Frankincense. Frankincense is a wonderful healing oil and can be used in a variety of ways.
