Who doesn’t like granola? {If you don’t, you probably aren’t reading this post :) }
Chewy or crunchy, it’s perfect on yogurt, applesauce, as cereal, or just by the handful.
Easy Homemade Granola
3 cups old fashioned oats
1/4 cup canola oil
1/4 cup honey
2 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1-2 cups add-ins, like nuts, raisins, chocolate chips
Directions
1. Preheat oven to 325. Line a large, rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or spray with cooking spray. Whisk together the oil, honey, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt. Pour over oats and mix well (with the help of your children of course!)
2. Spread the mixture evenly on the baking sheet. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown, stirring well every 5 minutes.
3. Allow granola to cool completely, then transfer to a large bowl and stir in add-ins. Can be stored un-refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks. We keep ours in a pretty quart jar!
*Fill half-pint canning jars with yogurt or applesauce and sprinkle granola on the top for an on-the-go breakfast!

I love homemade granola on organic vanilla yogurt – so yummy! I want to keep trying new granola recipes until I find my go-to one. Recently tried making it in the slow cooker and it worked pretty well!
Granola in the crock pot–that sounds really good! I’ll have to try that too.
I just started picking up some granola at the store to munch on in the afternoon. It is a good snack that ties me over until dinner. I like the idea of a homemade version much better! Thanks for posting.

Thanks, Nicole! I usually buy it at the store too, but I thought it might be fun to try, and it’s cheaper too!
This looks like so much fun to make with kids!
That sounds yummy! I never thought of putting it on applesauce–I’ll definitely give that a try. Would give the applesauce a little more sticking-power for a snack :)
It’s super yummy! My family loves to layer applesauce and granola and then top with fresh whipped cream (and chocolate chips!) for a yummy summer breakfast/dessert. It’s very similar to a traditional Scandinavian dessert called Eppli Cakka. :)
I will have to ask my Scandinavian church members about Eppli Cakka–that sounds delicious!
I’ve made homemade granola before, just winging it and it turned out great, but I might try this recipe as well. Thanks!
