How does a front closet go from this:
To this:
…in a super short amount of time when kids {who like to take their time doing everything} are the ones in charge?
When you clean it up with the Two-Minute Tidy!
As a family we strive to teach our kids to have good attitudes as they do everyday household chores or other tasks that aren’t naturally exciting. I think one thing that helps is to do something a little different every once in a while when we are doing chores.
We use picture charts, chore cards and play The Flashlight Game, among other things.
One way to do a targeted job very quickly is with a method we call the Two-Minute Tidy. I read about something similar to this a few years ago and decided to make it work for my family.
Basically what we do is find a task that needs to be done and then assign a small part of that task to each person. For the front closet, my 6 and 4 year old worked together to put away shoes, hang up jackets and line up other shoes.
Each time, I set the timer for two minutes and call out “GO!” My kids somehow find it hilarious to put things away in crazy mode so the Two Minute Tidy has been successful so far!

That is genius. Going to have to start implementing this for myself, and slowly teaching my toddler to join in. thanks for the great idea!!!
I like the idea of setting the timer. Why didn’t I think of that? Kids love a challenge. Stopping by from Crystal & Comp. Hope to see you at True Aim!
