These seven hymns about overcoming fear are comforting when you’re afraid. They’re worship songs that can bring peace to your heart and your children’s hearts as well!
Sing these encouraging hymns with your kids or just listen to them when you feel anxious.
They reinforce Scriptural truths when you’re scared and remind us that we can place our hope and trust in God.
Sometimes, fear can come upon us quickly. One minute, everything seems fine and the next, we’re forced to face fears and anxieties we’d much rather not even have to deal with.
The reality of living in a fallen world is that we will experience imperfect and unsettling circumstances that can make us afraid.
The reassurance we can have during these times is that God is the same God He has ALWAYS been. Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.”
No matter what happens, Christ is the victor. He is the comfort for our souls when they are in distress. We can daily place our trust in Him (and sometimes it’s definitely a day-by-day act of trust!).
One of the best things we can do to calm our hearts and minds (besides reading the Bible) is to listen to or sing hymns.
These long-ago words written by men and women of faith bring to life the truths of Scripture in ways that affect and change our real lives.
I hope you’ll enjoy listening to or singing these seven beautiful hymns with your families, especially in times you are feeling overwhelmed or afraid!

Abide With Me
“Thou changest not, O Lord, abide with me,” is a line from this hymn, written in 1847. When things around us are changing or we are finding ourselves in a place of uncertainty and fear, this hymn reminds us of God’s timelessness and that even though “heaven and earth will pass away, your Word will not pass away”. (Matthew 24:35) Listen to this newer arrangement in the YouTube video below!
