The new year always brings a mix of excitement and dread for me. I feel like I need to be ready with all my resolutions RIGHT NOW when Christmas has barely passed me by!

Maybe you feel this way too!
As we prepare for the next year, we know it’s important to have an opportunity to reboot, but it’s hard to make it happen all at once.
To keep ourselves from feeling overwhelmed with all the changes we “should” be making on January 1, let’s reflect on God’s Word to be encouraged by God’s scriptural promises for us in the new year!
Because no matter how prepared or unprepared we are to purge our our toy rooms, eat better or be a better mom, God’s promises still are the same throughout the years!
17 Bible Verses about God’s Promise for a New Year
Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
God promises that we can move on from the past.
So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.
God promises us wisdom when we remember that how we spend each day is important.
Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.
You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.
One of the promises of God for the new year is to show us the truth in His Word and help us grow in our faith.
Blessed is the one you choose and bring near, to dwell in your courts! We shall be satisfied with the goodness of your house, the holiness of your temple! By awesome deeds you answer us with righteousness, O God of our salvation, the hope of all the ends of the earth and of the farthest seas; the one who by his strength established the mountains, being girded with might; who stills the roaring of the seas, the roaring of their waves, the tumult of the peoples, so that those who dwell at the ends of the earth are in awe at your signs. You make the going out of the morning and the evening to shout for joy. You visit the earth and water it; you greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water; you provide their grain, for so you have prepared it. You water its furrows abundantly, settling its ridges, softening it with showers, and blessing its growth. You crown the year with your bounty; your wagon tracks overflow with abundance.
God promises blessing and abundance. That doesn’t always happen in the form of money. Abundance is knowing God and trusting in His strength and provision, no matter what the circumstance.
He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.
God promises to make all things good. Even the things in our lives that are difficult and bring sorrow can be used to weave a beautiful tapestry in our lives.
1 Chronicles 16:11-12
Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually! Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles and the judgments he uttered…
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.
God promises to listen to us and speak to us through His Holy Spirit.
And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules. You shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers, and you shall be my people, and I will be your God.
May he grant you your heart’s desire and fulfill all your plans!
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
Surely there is a future and your hope will not be cut off.
The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
1 John 4:18-19
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. We love because he first loved us.
And from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace.
Psalm 29:11 NIV
The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.
For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.
