Our Good Morning Girls study on 1 John is coming to a close. This study has been such a blessing to me, giving me the accountability to do my devotions each morning (although sometimes it became early afternoon!).
This week we’re reflecting on the entire book of 1 John and as I flipped through my notes, I stopped on this passage: 1 John 2:20-21.
“But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and you all have knowledge. I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth.”
No lie is of the truth. Big lies. White lies. Itty-bitty lies. And there are plenty of them out there, sent by the thief who “comes only to steal and kill and destroy.” John 10:10
I’ve been learning to pay attention to the sneaky lies that pop up in my life: in books, movies, tv shows, children’s books, pop psychology and various worldviews. Each day I pray for the discernment to “know the truth” and keep it close and to refuse to buy into the falsehoods that surround me.
I’d love to know, how have you surrounded yourself with truth amidst the lies?

We try to make ourselves aware of the lies that surround us too. When they appear despite our best efforts, we take the opportunity to discuss them as a family. It’s hard!
Yes, those sneaky little lies that seem harmless….but compounded lead a heart from Christ. Thank you for this. I’m a little sad 1 John is finished…excited about Ephesians!
